Here is a simple blog collecting images I've made of soft toys. A soft toybox, u could say, of sorts. Soft toys are strewn across the burning Earth; a BBC documentary on black gold recently* began by presenting a selection of such specimens declared 'Made of Oil'. Yes, they are (or might be). But, what do we attach to these imperfect objects? What beauty is bound up in their sad stitches? What affection must we save in the fight against global catastrophe? Beloved soft ghosts gather to vigil and dream. Praise be to my inspirations, Jane Hissey and Old Bear (www.janehissey.co.uk). Plz send photographs of soft-toy-models should they wish to sit for this sweet A3 assembly. Thank you, Good Luck. Gratitude to fairs.

Robert MacFarlane's Living-room, for B.T. (19/8/22) -
Robert MacFarlane's living-room is full of glitz and glamour. The sofas are plush. Not one dirt-crumb specks the threshold. Outside is outside, and inside is in. Diamanté chandeliers stud ceilings, diamanté candelabras walls. Three types of ketchup are in the kitchen, and one thousand types of cereal. There is a jacuzzi, surrounded by stained-glass-windows and a decorated screen (embroidered blossom, cranes) next to a well-plyed bath-mat. Perfume bottles in the bathroom cabinet, pastels. Collected bath salts, various. Pressed towels (multiple, folded). Slippers. Twenty pairs of immaculate Shoes. Choices of toothpaste. Chocolate kaleidescoping in shiny purple drawer after drawer. Mirrored bowls on every coffee table. Crystal angels, crystal trinkets. Fake flowers (fake dew-drops) protrude from the Elegant Vase. It is a space to behold. It is a nest, feathered, mag-pied. Crawling with snatchings. An ode to the Human, to sacred, furtive domesticity. Air Wick No.1 UK Air Care Brand puffing from plugs. Nail scissors found in any corner for any occasion of urgency. Clip, clip. R&B pulsates from the hi-fi. VK Blue and WKD in the fridge. The swimming-pool is pretty blue, mosaic dolphin inside. Grapes everywhere, Grecian. Phones are covered in stick-on gems (mobile, landline). iPods too. Rain <*>, diamonds <*>, rain <*>, baby <*>.
