Beauty

The shallots are like the lunula,
The crescent moons of your pearly
finger nails;
clean,                                                
washed,                                            
comfortable.

You look down at your hands         
Sitting on your pressed bedding    
Soft, and puffing fresh laundry scent
As you sit down,

You look down at the finger nails,
They are easy, domestic, safe.

Are for elsewhere

You were a blue, bubbling pot;

And in the queues, waiting for lasagne.
